It is recommended that you visit a dentist twice a year for a regular dental checkup and cleaning. The free checkup performed by Drs. Keith Huff has several different phases. Each one addresses a critical component of maintaining good oral health.

The first phase of the checkup consists of a dental cleaning procedure, where a dental hygienist will use special tools to help remove tartar and polish your teeth. During the cleaning the hygienist will keep an eye out for any signs of tooth decay or gum disease. This might include taking X-rays to better determine the health of the internal structures of your teeth.

Our dentist will then perform a thorough examination your mouth. This involves checking your teeth for any signs of decay as well as inspecting your gums for signs of gum disease. Before the checkup concludes, an oral cancer screening will also be performed. This involves checking your tongue, throat, face, head, and neck looking for any signs of infection, swelling or other signs of oral cancer.
